Study of blog article link effectiveness
• Reciprocal links do not work.
Purchasing text links from time to time does work, however this tactic is severely frowned upon by the search engines. Especially with Google!
So now you really need to think out of the box, I have spent countless hours trying to get journalists to write about my sites and it definitely works and pays off. However it’s a process that I feel is too costly to maintain a large website that scales. Focusing on trying to get small time bloggers to cooperate with me and write about my products and services also pays off.
The blogging community has an amazing ability to drive traffic and provide the side affect of boosting your Algorythmic rankings. I was thrilled when the company Blogsvertise.com showed up. I wasn’t sure that they could match the correct bloggers to my specific need. I am ecstatic with the ROI in terms of both traffic and effect on rankings. I would definitely check these guys out.
Hopefully this is a sustainable way to drive traffic down the line.

I've very little experience in generating links from other bloggers for client sites, its been easier to get bloggers to link to my blog but only reciprocally... I'm gonna pick your brains here and ask if you might post on getting the most from bloggers for sites that are not blogs..
Thanks

Hi Daz,
The best way to approach blog link generation is to use a blog search engine and find bloggers who are writing about your products. Once you have located the 5 or 10 that you are interested in contact them and see if you can sponsor their blog. Not just for a silly text link somewhere on the navigation but ask them to link to your products within their articles. Only if there is a direct match when they are writing, you will find that most of these authors will be happy to do this for peanuts.
Best of luck in your hunting.
Hi Aaron
Thanks for the comments... I kinda guessed that was the way forward... wish someone would offer me peanuts for my blog! ;)
Nice to hear peanuts helped remove the gum from your jacket too
