Frequent flyers love United

Well, United has been awarded year over year the most favored mileage program. I think I finally understand why.

If you fly enough to get premier status, you get access to the economy plus seating, which is not an expensive upgrade but worth while. Most people who fly will not pay the $20 to upgrade and the area is usually filled with frequent flyers.

Recently I have been cheating on United and flying other carriers, the same thing keeps bugging the heck out of me. Everyone is treated the same, so you are stuck sitting next to someone who A. Has never flown anywhere in their entire life. B. Is afraid of flying. C. Never heard of seen deodorant. D. Takes their child who screams like its about to die.

This segregation of customers is so relaxing and can really help any airline. Southwest is well known for the obese passengers and they pre-board all children. So the screaming kids are all up front in what is normally the best part of the plain!

US Air - Same thing!

American - Same thing!

Jet Blue - Younger crowd tends to be a nice a quiet flight!!

Virgin America - Very young crowd, best of all worlds. Except - New flyers on board, seat etiquette is a struggle for many! Elbows belong in your seat buddy! Same with Knees!

United also wins on leg room, 6'2" here! Economy Plus is barley livable, all other airlines suck in comparison for leg room.

Upgrades, no one gives out as many upgrades as United. Also no one makes it harder to use than United! So its a dog eat dog world.

I'm a United 1K member and, if they didn't have the best selection of flights out of Boston, I wouldn't fly them.

I agree with you completely about United Economy Plus -- it's sweet.

But, try flying Jetblue or, even better, Virgin America. United is no competition to them.

So, while I think United is the best of the dinosaur airlines, I think there's a lot of room for improvement.

I have been in the search industry since the late 90’s, no not 10-20 years. My career started early in the search Day’s at Inktomi, where I supported large search portals. For example, MSN, AOL, iWon, Hotbot, CNet too name a few. After Inktomi I became a freelance consultant. I consulted for a few of the Top SEO’s around 2002 time frame; obviously the market has changed since then. After consulting I joined a small SEO firm called SEO Inc as the CTO. At SEO Inc. I successfully optimized some of the largest clients including IGN, Sony, VEGAS.com, Beaches and Sandals Resorts to name a few. Even though SEO Inc was a ton of fun, I still wanted the ultimate SEO challenge. I moved on as the global head of SEO for Shopping.com an eBay company. This challenge was an interesting one, how do I optimize a site with 50 million products? Every month I helped the business grow by leaps and bounds. I am now consulting for mostly enterprise e-commerce clients. Yes there is more too me than this profile shows, but you will just have to ask.
