SEO Friendly META Tags

One of the most common mistakes for SEO is as simple as the META tags. Yes they don’t have nearly as much value as they used to, however if you are going to use them do not fill them with worthless information.

Here are a few examples to use.

The Title tag is the most important and the most dangerous. Do not just put your company name in here; this should clearly state what is going on in the page. Or your main keyword/key phrase.

For example

Title=”Lofty Golf Supplies” – BAD!

Title=”Golf Balls by Lofty Golf Supplies” – Better

Title=”Golf Balls” – Best

Secondarily the Description Tag, the best guidance I can give. Grab a sentence from the page, which includes the keyword in it. The closer it is to the content on the page the greater the effect.

Third the Keywords. DO NOT put keywords in the keyword tag that does not appear on the page. If you page is about Golf Balls, then put only golf balls in the keywords. Do not stuff the keywords tag on every page with the same junk.
